ETHGas (GWEI)

Ethereum users normally experience gas as a fluctuating transaction cost that changes with network demand. ETHGas approaches that cost as a financial primitive. By decomposing blockspace into composable block units, the protocol aims to create infrastructure for faster sequencing, more predictable execution, and markets that allow participants to manage future gas exposure. This is comparable in concept to how traditional commodity markets allow firms to hedge inputs such as energy or metals, although ETHGas applies the model to blockchain capacity rather than physical resources.

A key part of the project’s thesis is real-time block production and sequencing. ETHGas presents this as a way to improve confirmation speed relative to Ethereum’s standard block cadence, while still building around Ethereum’s demand for secure settlement and execution. The protocol also promotes the idea of forward or futures-style gas markets, which could support a native yield curve for Ethereum blockspace.

ETHGas also supports gas abstraction through the Open Gas Initiative, with the goal of reducing the impact of volatile gas prices on end users. In this model, applications and protocols can assume or manage gas costs more directly, creating a smoother user experience while opening new markets around blockspace pricing.
