Hermez Network (HEZ)

The project is associated with HEZ, an ERC-20 token created for the Hermez ecosystem. In the original Hermez model, the token is linked to coordinator selection and network incentives, supporting the operation of the rollup infrastructure that processes transactions. Hermez also became notable for experimenting with mechanisms intended to align scaling activity with the broader Ethereum community, including auction-based coordination and donation-oriented design choices.

Hermez later became part of the Polygon ecosystem, where its zero-knowledge research and engineering contributed to Polygon’s wider push into zk-based scaling.
