Linea (LINEA)
Linea is an Ethereum layer 2 network designed to scale on-chain activity while preserving close compatibility with the Ethereum Virtual Machine. Built by Consensys, the company behind widely used Ethereum products such as MetaMask and Infura, Linea uses zero-knowledge rollup technology to process transactions off the main chain and then settle proofs back to Ethereum. This approach aims to lower transaction costs and increase throughput while relying on Ethereum for final settlement and security.
The network is positioned as an Ethereum-aligned scaling environment rather than a separate competing chain. Developers can deploy Solidity smart contracts and familiar Ethereum tooling with minimal changes, while users can interact with DeFi protocols, NFT applications, games, and other on-chain services through wallets and infrastructure already common across the Ethereum ecosystem. Linea’s design emphasizes EVM equivalence, institutional-grade infrastructure, and deep integration with ETH-based liquidity.
