Aegis YUSD (YUSD)

What makes Aegis YUSD distinctive is its Bitcoin-backed structure and its use of hedging to reduce the impact of BTC price movements. According to the protocol design, Bitcoin reserves are held in custodial vaults and linked to smart-contract-based issuance. To help preserve the dollar peg, Aegis uses a delta-neutral strategy in which Bitcoin-margined perpetual contracts are used to offset changes in the market value of the BTC reserves. In principle, gains and losses on the hedge are intended to counterbalance movements in Bitcoin’s spot price, keeping the collateral position aligned with the value of YUSD in circulation.

YUSD also positions itself as a yield-bearing stablecoin. Rather than relying only on overcollateralisation in fiat or tokenised treasury assets, the protocol seeks to generate returns through its collateral and hedging framework. As with any crypto-backed stablecoin, users should consider the operational, custody, liquidity, smart contract, and derivatives-market risks that can affect peg stability. Within the stablecoin sector, Aegis YUSD represents an attempt to build a dollar asset around Bitcoin liquidity without leaving holders directly exposed to Bitcoin’s day-to-day volatility.
