Ball (BALL)
NYSE Market Closed
Ball Corporation is a leading global producer of aluminium beverage packaging, with a strong position in metal cans across North America, Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and South America. The company supplies cans and related packaging to major beverage brands, including producers of beer, soft drinks, energy drinks, sparkling water, and other ready-to-drink products. Its scale, manufacturing footprint, and customer relationships make it one of the most important suppliers in the global beverage can industry.
Ball has reshaped itself over time into a focused packaging company. It separated from its former glass jar business decades ago, and its current operations centre on aluminium containers rather than the household glass products historically associated with the Ball name. The company reports beverage packaging operations by region, with North and Central America representing the largest share of revenue, followed by EMEA and South America.
The company benefits from long-term demand for convenient, lightweight, and recyclable packaging. Aluminium cans are widely used because they are durable, easy to transport, chill quickly, and have well-established recycling systems in many markets. Ball’s growth strategy includes adding capacity where customer demand is expanding, particularly in developed markets where beverage categories continue to shift toward cans, while also investing in emerging markets with lower per-capita can consumption.
Ball’s performance is influenced by beverage volumes, aluminium prices, manufacturing efficiency, energy costs, and contract terms with large customers. Because packaging is essential but competitive, the company’s advantages come from operating scale, plant location, technical expertise, and reliability of supply. Its role is less about consumer branding and more about providing the industrial backbone behind many of the packaged drinks sold globally.
