Canadian Natural Resources (CNQ)

The business is built around long-life reserves and large-scale operating assets. Canadian Natural’s portfolio includes conventional oil and gas fields, thermal heavy oil projects, primary heavy oil production, and natural gas properties across Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, and other parts of the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin. It also maintains smaller international operations, including offshore assets in the North Sea and offshore Africa.

Canadian Natural sells into North American and global energy markets, with much of its Canadian production transported by pipeline to refineries and trading hubs in the United States. Its scale makes it an important participant in Canada’s energy export system and a significant supplier of heavy crude to refineries designed to process that grade.

For investors, CNQ represents exposure to a diversified upstream producer with a strong weighting toward oil sands and heavy oil. Its earnings are closely linked to crude oil and natural gas prices, production costs, pipeline capacity, currency movements, and Canadian energy policy.
