Huntsman Corporation is a global manufacturer of specialty and differentiated chemical products used across industrial, consumer, and construction markets. The company produces materials that serve as inputs for items such as insulation, adhesives, coatings, automotive components, footwear, furniture, electronics, aerospace materials, and building products.
The company’s largest business is Polyurethanes, which includes methyl diphenyl diisocyanate, commonly known as MDI, along with polyols, thermoplastic polyurethane, and related polyurethane products. These chemicals are used in rigid and flexible foams, elastomers, sealants, and other applications where durability, insulation, light weight, or performance characteristics matter. Demand for these products is influenced by construction activity, manufacturing output, energy efficiency trends, and global industrial production.
Huntsman also operates Performance Products and Advanced Materials businesses. Performance Products includes chemical intermediates and functional products such as amines and maleic anhydride that are used in energy, coatings, personal care, agriculture, and industrial processes. Advanced Materials focuses on epoxy-based formulations, composites, adhesives, and specialty resins for demanding applications, including aerospace, electronics, and high-performance industrial uses.
Based in the United States, Huntsman sells into markets across North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and other international regions. Its global footprint gives it access to a broad customer base, but it also exposes the company to raw material price movements, currency changes, regional demand cycles, and competition from large chemical producers. For market participants, Huntsman stands out as a cyclical specialty chemicals company with meaningful exposure to polyurethanes and engineered materials used in construction, transportation, and advanced manufacturing.
