Stewart Information Services Corporation is a real estate services company best known for its title insurance operations. Through the Stewart brand, the company supports transactions involving homes, commercial properties, mortgage lending and refinancing. Its customers include buyers and sellers, real estate agents, mortgage lenders, loan servicers, attorneys, developers and homebuilders.
The company’s largest business is title insurance and related services. This includes title searches, title examinations, escrow and closing services, and insurance policies that protect owners and lenders against covered defects in property ownership records. Because title insurance is closely tied to real estate transaction volumes, Stewart’s performance is influenced by housing activity, mortgage rates, refinancing demand and commercial property markets.
Stewart also operates a real estate solutions business that provides services used across the mortgage and property transaction process. These include appraisal management, valuation and search services, credit and real estate information, online notarization, digital closing tools and other support services for lenders and servicers. The company also offers home and personal insurance services, broadening its role in the residential transaction ecosystem.
Headquartered in the United States, Stewart competes in a concentrated title insurance industry where scale, local expertise, underwriting discipline and relationships with real estate professionals are important. The company’s strategy centers on combining traditional title and closing capabilities with technology-enabled services that help customers complete property transactions more efficiently.
