Veru (VERU)

Enobosarm is an oral selective androgen receptor modulator, or SARM. Veru is investigating the drug as a potential companion to GLP-1 receptor agonist weight-loss therapy, with the goal of improving body composition during weight reduction. GLP-1 medicines can produce substantial weight loss, but some patients also lose lean mass along with fat. Veru’s development strategy is to test whether enobosarm can help make weight loss more tissue selective by preserving muscle while supporting fat loss. The company plans to advance the programme through a Phase 2b PLATEAU study in obesity.

Sabizabulin is an oral microtubule disruptor being developed for inflammatory risk in atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. Veru is targeting patients with stable coronary artery disease and elevated high-sensitivity C-reactive protein, a marker associated with vascular inflammation. The planned Phase 2 study is designed to evaluate whether sabizabulin can lower hsCRP and potentially address residual inflammatory risk beyond standard lipid-lowering and cardiovascular therapies.

As a clinical-stage biotech, Veru’s investment profile depends heavily on trial execution, regulatory progress, safety data, and the commercial relevance of its target indications. The company does not resemble a diversified pharmaceutical business; its value is closely tied to the success or failure of its late-stage development assets.
