Xylem (XYL)
NYSE Market Closed
Xylem Inc is a water technology company that supplies equipment, software, and services used to move, measure, treat, monitor, and manage water. The company serves utilities, industrial operators, commercial buildings, and residential markets, giving it exposure to infrastructure spending, environmental regulation, and the long-term need for more efficient water systems.
Its portfolio spans pumps, filtration and treatment systems, analytical instruments, smart meters, networked sensors, and digital platforms that help customers reduce water loss, improve reliability, and lower operating costs. Xylem’s products are used across the water cycle, from sourcing and transport to wastewater collection, testing, reuse, and discharge. This broad position makes the company a key supplier to municipal water authorities as well as private-sector customers in sectors such as manufacturing, energy, and building services.
The company was formed in 2011 through a spin-off from ITT and is headquartered in Rye Brook, New York. Xylem operates globally, with a presence in more than 150 countries, and combines established engineering brands with data-driven water management capabilities. Its growth strategy focuses on modernising aging water infrastructure, expanding digital solutions, and helping customers meet resilience and sustainability targets.
Xylem is distinctive among industrial companies because its business is closely tied to water scarcity, climate adaptation, and public health. With around 16,200 employees and reported revenue of about $9 billion in 2025, it is one of the largest pure-play companies focused on solving water-related challenges.
