Zoetis Inc. is a global animal health company that develops, manufactures, and sells medicines, vaccines, diagnostics, and related products for livestock and companion animals. The company was formerly the animal health business of Pfizer and has become one of the largest standalone players in its industry, serving veterinarians, livestock producers, pet owners, and animal health distributors worldwide.
Its portfolio spans anti-infectives, parasiticides, dermatology treatments, pain medicines, vaccines, medicated feed additives, and diagnostic instruments. In companion animals, Zoetis focuses mainly on dogs, cats, and horses, with products used in areas such as parasite prevention, osteoarthritis pain, allergies, and infectious disease. In production animals, it supports cattle, swine, poultry, fish, and other species, helping producers manage disease, improve herd health, and protect food supply chains.
The company’s revenue is diversified across animal categories and geographies, although companion animal products represent the larger share of sales, particularly in the United States. International markets include a comparatively greater contribution from livestock and production animal health, reflecting regional differences in agriculture, protein demand, and veterinary infrastructure.
Zoetis benefits from durable trends such as rising pet ownership, increased spending on animal care, demand for protein, and the professionalization of veterinary medicine. Its scale, research capabilities, manufacturing network, and commercial relationships give it a strong position in a regulated market where trust, product reliability, and clinical evidence matter. The company stands out for combining pharmaceutical-style innovation with a broad animal health distribution footprint.
