Ripple price (XRP/USD) struggles to find momentum on Thursday
The Ripple price (XRP/USD) has seen some more disappointing trading over the past 24 hours, even though it has managed to edge higher on Thursday afternoon.
The second-largest digital currency on the market had to endure another lacklustre session yesterday, during which it mostly traded in the negative territory. The digital coin made a couple of attempts to rally above the level of its Tuesday close, but it wasn’t able to break through the $0.32 barrier. After experiencing multiple ups and downs throughout the session, the coin finished the session at $0.316, down from its opening price of $0.319.
Ripple has been performing in a largely similar manner since the start of today’s trading, although it has seen some positive action following a drop to an intraday low of $0.314 in the morning. This has allowed the digital coin to notch up some modest gains in recent trading. At the time of writing, the Ripple price was hovering slightly above the level of its yesterday close, according to data from digital currency tracker Coinmarketcap.
In other XRP-related news, industry website Coindesk has reported that Ripple, the San Francisco-based company that developed the token, has partnered with the Institute for Fintech Research (THUIFR) at Tsinghua University in Beijing to launch a blockchain research programme.
THUIFR announced last week that the Blockchain Technology Research Scholarship Program (BRSP) would focus on international regulatory policies and the development of blockchain technology.
“The program’s goal – to provide students with opportunities in blockchain research – closely aligns with that of Ripple’s University Blockchain Research Initiative; we’re thrilled to support THUIFR in this endeavor and look forward to its launch,” Eric van Miltenburg, Ripple’s SVP of Global Operations, commented on the development.
In today’s trading, the Ripple price stood at $0.317, as of 13:30 GMT. The digital coin has lost 0.4% of its value in the past 24 hours.
