Ripple price (XRP/USD) struggles to hold above $0.31 on Tuesday

The Ripple price (XRP/USD) has edged lower after seeing frequent fluctuations over the past 24 hours.

The third-largest digital currency on the market experienced some rocky trading on Monday, with its price hovering around the $0.31 mark for the better part of the session. Having started the day at $0.313, the digital coin hit an intraday high of $0.314 in the morning session, before tumbling toward the $0.31 mark. Following a number of price swings in the afternoon, the coin eventually finished the session at $0.311, according to data from digital currency tracker Coinmarketcap.

Like some of its chief crypto rivals, including Bitcoin (BTC) and Litecoin (LTC), XRP had a poor start to today’s session, with its price tumbling to a one-week low of $0.307. The coin made an attempt to recover its losses in the latter part of the morning session, when it revisited the level of its Monday close. However, the coin lost its momentum in the afternoon and started experiencing price swings again. At the time of writing, the Ripple price was hovering around $0.31.

At the same time, Ripple has seen a drop in terms of trading volume. Recent market data shows that some $556.5 million worth of XRP tokens have changed hands in the past 24 hours. This is significantly below the $672-million daily trading volume that was generated during the Monday session.

BCEX has been the most popular destination for Ripple trading in the past 24 hours, having captured nearly 14% of all XRP trades over that period.

In today’s trading, the Ripple price stood at $0.310, as of 16:25 GMT. The digital coin has lost $0.2% in the past 24 hours, Coinmarketcap data shows. The coin’s total market capitalisation currently stands at $12.85 billion.
