TRON CEO Justin Sun to support Greta Thunberg’s cause with $1m in crypto

Justin Sun, CEO of a cryptocurrency project known as TRON (TRX), recently announced a major donation to the environmental activist, Greta Thunberg.
Sun made an announcement on his Twitter account, stating that he plans to donate $1 million in crypto.
This decision comes from the claim that crypto transactions are eco-friendlier, which may further help Greta's cause.

According to a recent statement made by TRON (TRX) CEO, Justin Sun, he plans to donate $1 million to a well known environmental activist, Greta Thunberg. Sun made his announcement on his Twitter account, declaring that he shares the same views as the young Greta, which is why he intends to support her.

However, his plan is to donate the funds in cryptocurrency, as he believes that crypto transactions are more eco-friendly and that they can reduce the carbon footprint. This is a rather debatable statement, as many point out that mining cryptocurrencies require a lot of electricity, which increases the pressure on the world’s resources.

Even so, Sun believes that making donations in crypto is the right way to go. Besides, he is known for trying to save the world by pushing blockchain and crypto adoption, so it makes sense that he would continue to use the tools at his disposal in order to help.

Greta Thunberg still fights for the environment

The $1 million in crypto that he plans to donate comes from his personal funds, according to his statement, and it would not be taken from the Tron Foundation.

Meanwhile, Greta Thunberg (16) became quite famous for organizing a school strike outside the Swedish parliament back in August 2018. The protest she led criticized the lack of progress on the issue of preventing climate change. It was not long before the young protestor started making headlines, and she quickly became one of the most influential environmental activists in the world.

She has over 3.7 million Twitter followers at the time of writing, and she was recently proclaimed Time Magazine’s Person of the Year.

As for Sun, his efforts to improve the world so far mostly revolved around blockchain technology and his and TRON’s goal to revolutionize the entertainment industry.
