Youtuber claims Coca-Cola plans on entering the CBD market

According to a recent report, a Youtuber by the name of Gabor the Blind Guy uploaded a video on Thursday that showed a childproof lid on a Coca-Cola can. The content of the video circled how it’s difficult for blind people to handle such lids on canned products. The Youtuber also added that his father works for a company as a chief engineer that manufactures such bottles with lid mechanisms and supply them to a wide range of food and pharmaceutical companies. The video, however, got interesting and caught steam in a matter of hours as the guy made a claim that the American multinational nonalcoholic beverage manufacturer, retailer, and marketer, the Coca-Cola company, is set to launch a new series of a classic drink that is expected to constituent CBD extract. As per Gabor the Blind Guy, the company plans on launching the product in Canada in the upcoming months.

CBD Is Known As The Non-Psychoactive Component Of Marijuana

CBD is a component of Marijuana that is known to be non-psychoactive in nature. With no proven “high” effect, CBD extract is sometimes used to treat pain. The Coca-Cola company responded immediately to the rumors and emailed Bloomberg News to highlight that all such claims are entirely false. The company further added that it has reiterated on multiple occasions that there are no such plans of entering the CBD market; a statement that still stands true for the Coca-Cola company. The video was later deleted from Youtube. While a saved copy was later uploaded on the WallStreetBets forum on Reddit, the content was soon deleted from there as well.

Coca-Cola Had Shown Interest In Cannabis Drinks Market In 2018

In a statement last year, Coca-Cola had expressed interest in the cannabis drinks market. At the time, Aurora Cannabis Inc. had noted the highest gain in the stock market as BNN Bloomberg Television reported that Coca-Cola was holding discussions with Aurora Cannabis for the potential launch of such products. Following the recent rumors, Aurora was approached again to comment on the recent news. As of Friday, no official statement has been released by the company that circles a potential partnership with the Canadian beverage manufacturer. Coca-Cola responded moderately to the rumors in the stock market on Thursday. The stock surged from $54.82 towards the end of the day and was last seen trading at $55.09 in the after-hours trading.
