A report on Friday announced the sad demise of Domino’s Pizza regional finance director for the United Kingdom. The company stated that director David Bauernfeind was on a vacation in Mauritius with his family. A snorkeling accident on Boxing Day saw the 51-year-old director drown in the Indian Ocean island.

Bauernfeind Was Found At The Island Coast By A Local Sailor

As per the local reports, a sailor found Bauernfeind at the island coast where the paramedics pronounced him dead at the spot. Upon taking his body to the nearby hospital for postmortem, drowning was announced as the cause of death.  The company’s chief executive, David Wild, expressed his grief on Bauernfeind’s demise and commented:

“We are all deeply shocked and saddened by this tragic news. On behalf of our board, our colleagues and our franchisees, we send our heartfelt sympathies to David’s wife, Nicolette, and daughter, Ornella, as well as his wider family and friends.”

Bauernfeind took over as the permanent regional finance director for the Domino’s Pizza in the United Kingdom in October 2018. He had also served the company as the interim CFO in the months prior to October. He was the fourth director for the finance department at the American multinational pizza restaurant chain. Further credentials to his name include Connect Group’s chief financial officer. Previously a subsidiary of WH Smith, Connect Group is one of the leading names in newspapers, magazines, and books distributors in the UK. Bauernfeind also served the technology company Xchanging for 15 years.

Bauernfeind’s Wife, Nicolette, Reported Him Missing On Thursday

L’Express, the local Mauritius newspaper, reported that the director’s body was found at Belle Mare coast at 07:45 GMT on Thursday. The body was immediately brought to the Victoria Hospital for postmortem that discovered drowning driven asphyxia to have caused the tourist’s death. Bauernfeind’s wife, Nicolette, had already reported him missing on Thursday. Upon Nicolette’s confirmation of the body, the news was made public and Bauernfeind’s next of kin in the United Kingdom were informed. In his statement on Friday, CEO Wild also remarked:

“David was hugely liked and deeply respected for his dedication and sharp intellect amongst Domino’s colleagues. He was a force for good within the business and will be greatly missed.”

In respect of the CFO’s sad demise, no amount of information regarding the potential candidate for the company’s next finance director, or the plans at large were divulged at this stage.
