  • Coronavirus' rapid advancement led to the cancellation of most gatherings, conventions, and conferences.
  • This includes numerous crypto events that were supposed to take place in Asia in the near future.
  • In order to prevent the virus from spreading rapidly, numerous popular crypto conferences were delayed, or even canceled.

As the coronavirus crisis continues to develop, many have noticed that its effects go beyond people’s health and wellbeing. While it was recognized a while ago that the virus is likely to make some serious damage to the world’s supply chains, many believe that this might work in favor of Bitcoin and potentially other cryptos.

However, due to the fear of the virus and the necessity to make it difficult for it to spread, there were numerous crypto event and conference delays, or even full cancellations. Despite the fact that this is for the best in order to stop the virus from spreading around the world faster than it already is, it is likely that the cancellation of crypto events will have significant consequences, as well.

The rapid advancement of coronavirus forced delays of popular crypto events

As many might already know, the Chinese government continues to report new information regarding the virus and the situation within the country. The death toll has already reached 563 individuals, while the number of confirmed cases exceeds 28,000 at the time of writing.

The virus is highly contagious, and this makes it increasingly difficult to prevent outbreaks. As a result, it is extremely important for everyone not to catch or help spread the virus further. This has led to delays in most gatherings and conferences, and in the crypto world, which includes Hong Kong Blockchain Week 2020, Binance Blockchain Week Vietnam, as well as Token2049.

All of these are extremely popular events that might attract thousands of people from around the world, who might get infected if the conferences were to take place., and then carry the virus back to their home countries. The founder of Istanbul Blockchain Week, Erhan Korhaliller, recently spoke about the cancellation by saying that health and safety are of the highest importance, and the move is definitely understandable under the circumstances. Hos own Istanbul Blockchain Week will take place as scheduled, however, since there were no confirmed cases of coronavirus in Turkey.
