If you’ve received a DM from your favourite movie star or TV icon regarding a certain Bitcoin-related investment they claim to have recently made, then you may want to tone down your excitement as you could be dealing with scammers.

Until a few months ago, automated Bitcoin trading platforms were some of the coolest vehicles for investing in the crypto space. But thanks to a bunch of greedy individuals, a wave of scams has been circulating online, with claims of various Bitcoin trading tools being endorsed by a section of prominent people including Cillian Murphy.

But let’s think for a moment; is there a slight chance that the celebrated actor could have misled millions of his followers into an investment that turned out to be a fraud?

Well, there’s only one way to find that out, let’s do some digging!

Who is Cillian Murphy?

For those who haven’t heard of this Irish actor just yet, he was born in County Cork, Ireland, in May 1976. Cillian Murphy started his career as a rock musician back in the day and after turning down a recording deal, he got into theatre acting in the 1990s.

But it wasn’t until 2002 and 2003 when Murphy’s acting talent went full-blown, landing him key roles in movies such as 28 Days Later (2002), Cold Mountain (2003), and Intermission (2003).

He would later get involved in a series of other films and in 2011, Murphy won the Irish Times Theatre Award for Best Actor and the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Solo Performance for Misterman.

Away from acting, he is also involved in humanitarian works including a UNESCO Child Support Program.

His investments remain a closely guarded secret but he is said to be worth circa £12 million.

What is Bitcoin Revolution?

If you started trading cryptos a few years back, you probably know too well how fast one’s investment would be wiped off their trading accounts owing to the market volatility. This is perhaps why a group of experienced investors thought it wise to provide a solution that would not just work for the experts, but the novice traders too, to minimise market losses.

Welcome Bitcoin Revolution, an app developed to make trading Bitcoin a painless experience. Using the tool, one can enter the market, buy Bitcoin, speculate, and sell when prices are at their peak, all without much hassle.

As described on their own website: 'Bitcoin Revolution is an automated trading tool that requires investors to deposit funds and switch to “auto-trade” as the rest is taken care of. The tool uses its built-in robot to analyse market variables, faster and more effectively than most expert traders.'

The app’s officials claim users of Bitcoin Revolution enjoy trade accuracy of up to 99.4%; meaning, the chances of losing money in the market lie below 1%.

Did Cillian Murphy invest in Bitcoin Revolution?

Every source that we came across indicating Murphy’s wealth never mentioned any investment in the Bitcoin niche. The actor’s investment life has always been out of the limelight, making it close to impossible for anyone to be able to truly confirm his involvement with the Bitcoin trader.

Murphy has never at any given time expressed interest in cryptocurrencies or related technology. Besides, as stated, no credible source including himself has been able to confirm the investment rumour.

Why the story went viral

Apart from the obvious fact that negative celebrity stories tend to attract more attention, the rumour about Muprhy endorsing Bitcoin Revolution went a little too far. We saw countless online ads doing rounds claiming the star was already making millions through the alleged investment, when in fact, that had not happened.

That got us thinking: could the buzz have been fabricated? Well, it turns out we were right. The online publications and ads about the rumour led back to shady sites belonging to a number of third-party internet marketers.

Moreover, some of the scammers went as far as creating duplicate Bitcoin Revolution sites to hijack potential investors. As you may imagine, thousands lost their life savings.

We found no evidence that the scam was supported by Bitcoin Revolution themselves.

Can Bitcoin Revolution be trusted?

It takes more than a celebrity’s endorsement to be able to trust a platform. While there are fake endorsements doing rounds online, who knows which scheme they will be using next?

Today you may not have fallen for celebrity endorsements, but how sure are you these con-artists won’t outsmart you next time?
