British designer brand Burberry enters the NFT market

The NFT sector continues to attract new participants, and not only traders and collectors, but also major brands. The latest example of this is the British luxury fashion house, Burberry, which just entered the NFT world.

From what is known, the designer brand has entered the NFT sector through a partnership with Mythical Games, which is a studio that runs Blankos Block Party. Blankos Block Party is a brand new NFT game that allows users to purchase, sell, or simply collect NFT characters, or Blankos. In addition to that, it also allows users to design and build new games.

Blankos have been described as a combination of Fortnite and Funko Pops, with the addition of NFTs. As most likely know, games like these have ‘skins’ that function as major drivers of IP for digital and physical products alike. With that in mind, a designer brand like Burberry is a natural fit for NFT projects, such as Blankos.

Collectibles of this kind do not only have value, but they are even capable of holding it or even increasing it over the years. Meanwhile, Blankos Block Party is very easy to get into, particularly due to the fact that it is free to play. Once they get into the world of Blankos, users can then choose to purchase accessories and cosmetics, which are completely optional, but they do give the game its charm.

The game is currently available on PC, while support for other platforms is expected to eventually come out, as well. The project itself runs on a customized variant of the EOS blockchain.

As for Burberry, its NFTs are titled the “B Series”, and they will feature several limited-edition drops that will take place on August 11th. The brand has given a few hints at what to expect, including a vinyl NFT toy, accessories, as well as a limited edition character, Sharky B.

But, it should be noted that Burberry is far from being the only brand designer to join the NFT world. Others have done it before, such as D&B, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, and more, most of them joining up over the past few months. It is also likely that Burberry will not be the last, as all of these brand designers are getting more and more involved, starting new projects, and inspiring others to follow in their footsteps.
