As AI technologies continue to advance, so do the capabilities of malicious actors seeking to exploit vulnerabilities in identity verification systems.

The new Civic physical ID card system is strategically layered with the innovative Civic Pass solution which serves as a non-transferable token, offering users secure access to decentralized applications and services while authenticating their status as legitimate individuals.

By integrating this digital identity token with a physical ID card, Civic aims to provide a comprehensive defence mechanism against various forms of identity fraud, including the insidious practice known as “face farming.”

Civic’s robust identity verification solutions have already garnered significant traction within the Web3 ecosystem.

Partnering with renowned projects such as Gitcoin, Passport, Polygon ID, and others, Civic’s platform is poised to play a pivotal role in enhancing security and trust within decentralized networks.

In an official announcement made by Civic, Vinny Lingham, co-founder and Chair of the board at Civic, emphasized the critical role of the physical ID card in fortifying defences against AI-driven threats.

He underscored the company’s commitment to proactive measures aimed at safeguarding users’ identities in an increasingly digitized world.

The rollout of Civic’s physical ID card system includes a meticulous verification process conducted through authorized providers.

Upon successful verification, users can collect their personalized ID cards from designated physical addresses.

In addition to receiving the physical card, users will also be equipped with a digital Civic Pass in their on-chain wallets, symbolizing the soulbound identity token itself.
