Samsung unveils first dApp partner for Galaxy S10
South Korean consumer electronics giant Samsung has announced the first dApp (decentralised application) partner for its upcoming flagship handset Galaxy S10.
As reported by industry website Coindesk, yesterday, during its Samsung Mobile Business Summit session at MWC Barcelona 2019, the Korean company showcased Galaxy S10’s Blockchain Keystore, with the presentation including the logo Cosmee, for a beauty community service dApp from the Cosmochain crypto project.
The news was later confirmed in an official press release from Coinall, a community-driven crypto exchange and a Cosmochain partner.
“It was announced that Samsung’s Galaxy S10, which has been confirmed to provide various blockchain-based functions including cryptocurrency wallets, will support COSMEE, a blockchain-based social media beauty platform,” the press release, published earlier today, reads.
Cosmochain’s chief executive officer Howon Song revealed that Cosmee’s addition to Galaxy S10’s Blockchain Keystore was part of the company’s blokchain team’s desire to partner with a widely-used dApp service. Song also said that both parties had numerous meetings in order to verify the business model and technology over the past six months.
Cosmee is a blockchain-based beauty content sharing pilot project, which has already garnered some 300,000 downloads in South Korea, even though it is still potentially moths away from a full release. The dApp employs a reward system which allows users to earn Cosmo Coin (COSM) crypto tokens for participating in activities such as posting reviews and commenting on the dApp. The token is listed on several crypto exchanges, including CoinAll, KuCoin, HitBTC and CoinBene.
Samsung’s presentation also included the logo for the Enjin cryptocurrency project, suggesting that it would also be among Samsung’s blockchain partners. However, this has not been officially confirmed.
Enjin is a gaming-focused project that offers a platform for blockchain game development, tokenised in-game items and an ERC-20 token dubbed Enjin Coin (ENJ).
