  • TRON Foundation, BitTorrent, TRON's CEO, as its Head of Engineering are facing a lawsuit by former employees.
  • Two former employees accused the companies and their controversial officials of numerous law violations
  • The officials were not allowed to discuss the details of the case and publish an official response so far
Justin Sun, the CEO of a popular cryptocurrency project, TRON, once again finds himself under the spotlight due to a recent lawsuit that accused him, as well as the TRON Foundation of harassing and firing two employees. Allegedly, this happened as payback after the employees objected to some of the company’s management practices, and the use of technology that is being developed by TRON. The case is not exactly new — the lawsuit was filed back in October, in the US state of California. It was filed by Lukasz Juraszek (28) and Richard Hall (50), who complained about escalating hostilities that resulted in their termination from BitTorrent — a P2P file-sharing service that TRON purchased in the summer of 2018.

TRON’s controversial CEO facing serious charges

The lawsuit goes into detail, stating that Sun used ‘derogatory exclamations’ against Hall, trying to pressure him into “fast-tracking BitTorrent software releases.” He also allegedly slapped the company’s head of engineering, Cong Li (37), without ever being disciplined for it. Meanwhile, Li himself allegedly physically hit a manager, with who he previously had a verbal confrontation. Apart from physical and verbal abuse, the lawsuit also stresses the ethical dilemmas that crypto professionals confront when they work on technology that is value-neutral in nature and can even be used for breaking laws. Hall, for example, stated that he noticed and reported the risk of third parties that might host copyrighted content and even child pornography. However, Sun and Li did not care enough to act on his warning. The lawsuit demands $15 million in damage for wrongful termination, emotional distress, discrimination, and hostile work conditions, all of which violate the labor laws. The TRON Foundation, Sun, Li as well as BitTorrent are involved, and they submitted their responses in December. So far, none of them were able to speak on the details of the case due to the pending litigation. However, they did stress that the TRON community, employees, and customers are of extreme importance to the companies and its officials. The supposed wrongdoings within the company also included sabotage, disrespecting American laws and customs, impossibly high standards, retaliation, discrimination, and more.
