Understanding
the importance of health literacy, Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOGL) announced on
Saturday that it plans on launching a nationwide website that will address all
queries of the American citizens regarding Coronavirus. The tech giant also
said that it is in constant contact with the U.S government to implement the
initiative.

According
to the Alphabet’s announcement on Twitter:

“We
are fully aligned and continue to work with the U.S government to contain the
spread of COVID-19, inform citizens, and protect the health of our communities.”

President
Trump Says 1,700 Engineers Are Working To Develop The Platform

President
Trump was all praise for the Alphabet’s initiative and reiterated that 1,700
engineers were working committedly to develop the platform. He also said that
the website will go a long way in providing sufficient information to the
Americans regarding their need of getting a Coronavirus test.

Google
parent company also revealed that its life sciences unit, Verily, is currently
in the initial phases of developing the platform. The company chose Bay Area to
test the website which will then be expanded to other regions over time.

Alphabet’s
stock closed the
last week over 9% higher
on Friday. The Coronavirus driven downward rally
has recently stripped Alphabet of its trillion-dollar market value. The company
currently has a market cap of $835.80 billion.

Trump
administration is currently faced with massive pressure to improve its strategy
to tackle the Coronavirus pandemic that is penetrating several states and has
pushed local governments into canceling conferences, sporting events, and
concerts. In order to avoid big crowds, schools and many of the offices have
also been closed in the U.S.

Alphabet
Inc. Is Currently Facing Multiple Antitrust Investigations

Alphabet’s
life sciences division, Verily, is a subsidiary located in Mountain View,
California.

Alphabet
Inc. continues to play its role in helping the government in enhancing response
to the health emergency despite the
ongoing antitrust investigations
by multiple state and federal agencies which
branded the company’s digital advertising business as not transparent.

In
the recent past, president of the United States, Donald Trump had also accused
the tech giant of skewing Google’s search results to negatively portray him
ahead of the presidential election. Alphabet also disappointed the government by
not renewing its AI technologies (artificial intelligence) contract with the
U.S military that relied on it for its drone program.
