Bonk (BONK)
Bonk is a dog-themed memecoin built around the Solana ecosystem. Launched in late 2022, shortly after the collapse of FTX damaged confidence across Solana-linked markets, BONK positions itself as a community-first token intended to reward users, developers, artists, and NFT participants rather than venture capital backers. A large portion of its 100 trillion token supply was distributed through airdrops, helping it gain early visibility among Solana users.
The token benefits from Solana’s fast settlement and low transaction costs, which make small transfers, trading activity, and on-chain integrations more practical than on higher-fee networks. BONK’s identity remains rooted in meme culture, but the project has expanded into a broader set of community tools and DeFi-style products. These include BonkSwap, a decentralised exchange, BonkBot, a Telegram-based trading bot, and LetsBonk.fun, a memecoin launch platform. Together, these products give BONK a more active role in Solana trading culture than many single-purpose meme tokens.
Governance and ecosystem development are supported by BonkDAO, while periodic token burns are used to reduce supply and reinforce the project’s deflationary narrative. BONK is also widely available through major centralised exchanges and has expanded across multiple blockchain environments, improving accessibility for traders outside Solana.
Despite its growing infrastructure, BONK remains a highly speculative asset. Its price is heavily influenced by community sentiment, social media momentum, Solana market conditions, and risk appetite for memecoins. Its significance lies in how it has evolved from a grassroots airdropped token into one of Solana’s most recognisable community assets.
