Starknet (STRK)
Starknet is an Ethereum layer-2 network designed to increase blockchain throughput while preserving the security assumptions and open settlement layer of Ethereum. It uses validity-rollup technology based on STARK proofs, a form of cryptography that allows large batches of transactions and computations to be verified on Ethereum with compact proofs rather than executed directly on the main chain.
The network is built for decentralised applications that need lower fees and greater capacity than Ethereum can typically provide on its own. Developers can deploy smart contracts on Starknet, most notably using Cairo, a programming language created for provable computation. This gives the ecosystem a technical identity that is distinct from many other Ethereum scaling projects, with an emphasis on high-performance execution and cryptographic verification.
STRK is the native token associated with Starknet’s long-term decentralisation. It is intended to support governance, allowing token holders to take part in decisions that shape protocol upgrades, ecosystem policy, and strategic direction. The token is also designed to play a role in paying network fees and participating in the network’s consensus and security model as Starknet evolves.
As a crypto asset, STRK represents exposure to one of the most prominent zero-knowledge and validity-rollup ecosystems connected to Ethereum. Its relevance depends on developer adoption, user activity, decentralised governance, and Starknet’s ability to provide scalable infrastructure without weakening Ethereum’s core principles of transparency, permissionless access, and settlement security.
