Focus Universal Inc. is a technology company working on connected-device hardware, smart instrumentation and software tools designed to simplify how sensors, meters and control systems are deployed. The company’s core concept is “universal” smart technology: platforms intended to reduce the need for separate, single-purpose devices by allowing different instruments and IoT applications to communicate through shared architectures.
Its proprietary technologies include device-on-a-chip designs, a universal smart instrumentation platform, ultra-narrowband communications, power-line communication technology and financial reporting software. These capabilities are aimed at markets such as smart metering, building automation, environmental monitoring, agricultural technology and other Internet of Things use cases where low-cost data collection and device management are important.
Focus Universal reports operations through two main segments. The LED and IoT Installation Services segment provides installation, project management and related services for lighting and connected-device systems, and has historically accounted for most of the company’s revenue. The SEC Financial Software segment reflects the company’s effort to commercialize software that assists with financial reporting and regulatory filing processes.
As a small listed company, Focus Universal is positioned around the commercialization of its technology portfolio rather than a mature, large-scale product franchise. Investors typically view the stock in the context of its ability to convert intellectual property and installation expertise into recurring demand across IoT, automation and compliance-related software markets.
