RTX Corporation (RTX)
NYSEMarket Closed
RTX Corporation is one of the world’s largest aerospace and defense companies, supplying commercial aviation customers, governments, and military agencies. The company was created through the combination of Raytheon Company and United Technologies’ aerospace businesses, bringing together defense electronics, missile systems, aircraft engines, and a broad portfolio of aviation components and services.
RTX operates through three major businesses. Collins Aerospace is a diversified supplier to the commercial and military aerospace markets, providing systems and equipment used across aircraft platforms, including avionics, interiors, landing systems, mission systems, and connected aviation technologies. Pratt & Whitney designs, manufactures, and services aircraft engines for commercial airlines, business aviation, and military aircraft, making aftermarket maintenance and long engine life cycles an important part of its business model. Raytheon focuses on defense and security technologies, including missiles, air and missile defense systems, sensors, radars, command-and-control equipment, and communications capabilities.
The company’s revenue base is balanced between commercial aerospace and defense. Commercial aviation exposure links RTX to global air travel demand, aircraft production rates, airline maintenance spending, and fleet modernization. Its defense operations are driven by government budgets, long-cycle procurement programs, geopolitical security priorities, and demand for advanced weapons and sensing systems.
RTX is distinctive because it combines high-value manufacturing with long-term service revenue and deep relationships across both civil and military aviation. Its products are often embedded in aircraft or defense platforms for decades, creating recurring demand for parts, upgrades, and support. For investors, RTX offers exposure to two structurally important markets: the expansion and maintenance of the global aircraft fleet, and sustained investment in national defense capabilities.
