The company stated that a select set of new and existing Fios and wireless subscribers are eligible for the offer. First-time Verizon Fios customers who chose to sign up for either of the company’s Mix & Match home internet plans also qualify for the freebie.
Besides this, existing customers of the ‘Start Unlimited’ plan can take advantage of six months of AMC+. ‘Start Unlimited’ is the cheapest unlimited plan that offers 4G data service. After the free promotion period, Verizon customers will pay a fee of $8.99 per month for the AMC+. This announcement came on Thursday. The ongoing promotion begins immediately and will conclude on February 10, 2022.
Verizon’s competitors are also offering freebies
Competitors of the wireless company are giving away freebies to their customers. While AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) offers HBO Max for free for many of its customers, T-Mobile Us Inc. (NASDAQ: TMUS) offers its users Netflix for free with unlimited data plans.
These developments come at a time when streaming services have become the ideal way for distributing video content. In the future, service providers may consider offering bundled services similar to the cable model. In this direction, Verizon has taken the lead by offering multiple free services with its wireless plans.
In the backdrop of the developments, AMC Networks forecast to have at least 9 million paid streaming subscribers across its platforms by year-end.
