  • Seven U.S. gaming operators formed Responsible Online Gaming Association.
  • Together, members of ROGA make up over 85% of the U.S. online betting market.
  • The consortium will incentivize its members for their responsible gaming efforts.

Online gaming is in focus this morning after seven of the largest U.S. based names in that space came together to form ROGA – the Responsible Online Gaming Association.

Which of the seven U.S. gaming companies joined?

Operators that have joined forces on responsible gaming include DraftKings Inc (NASDAQ: DKNG), FanDuel, BetMGM, Fanatics, Penn Entertainment (NASDAQ: PENN), Bet365, and Hard Rock Digital.

Together, these make up over 85% of the online betting market (legal) in the U.S. Jennifer Shatley – executive director of the Association said on Wednesday:

Collectively, the seven members of ROGA have pledged over $20 million to the initiative.

Members will be incentivized for responsible gaming efforts

Unlike ever before, the consortium will now share information on problem gamblers as well.

Members of the Responsible Online Gaming Association will work together on best gaming practices, education, and conscientious advertising and marketing.

They will also set up an independent clearinghouse to share critical information aimed at protecting consumers. Details of that database, however, are yet to be revealed.

ROGA also announced a certification programme today that will incentivize members for their responsible gaming efforts. Note that online betting transactions hit a record 15,000 per second in the Super Bowl season this year.
