Google has fixed a glitch that produced varying search results for the queries “where can I vote for Harris” and “where can I vote for Trump.”

When users searched for Kamala Harris, the results included a tool to help locate polling stations. In contrast, the search for Donald Trump only displayed news articles without any mapping assistance.

This issue gained attention after Elon Musk shared a post about it on X, which quickly garnered over 4.5 million views.

In response, Google’s official X account explained that the discrepancy was due to the name “Harris” also being associated with a county in Texas, leading to the generation of the voting panel.

They noted that similar issues occur with the name “Vance,” which is also a county name.

Google confirmed the issue has been fixed.

Trump Media experienced repeated trading halts due to volatility during midday trading, as the company, primarily owned by Donald Trump, abruptly lost its double-digit gains.

Shares of DJT were trading above $40 after 1:30 p.m. ET but plummeted to $35.51, triggering the first five-minute halt at 2:48 p.m.

Just two minutes after trading resumed, shares fell into negative territory for the day, leading to another halt.

Crypto markets open on election night

Most US financial markets will remain closed on Tuesday night as states tally votes in a high-stakes election between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris.

But the crypto market will be active, offering an exception for investors who may respond to election results in real-time.

Bitcoin, often seen as a barometer of confidence in alternative investments, is primed for potential gains if Trump has a favorable night.

Analysts at Bernstein, led by Gautam Chhugani, expect a Trump win could boost Bitcoin prices above $80,000 within the next two months.

Conversely, should Harris prevail, they project Bitcoin might slip to $50,000. Read more here.

The outcome of the election could take days even as opinion polls forecast a tight battle between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump. 

The market is also focused on which of the parties the Republicans and Democrats gain a majority in Congress. A clean sweep by either of these parties could bring in drastic changes in policy-making and spending. 

Meanwhile, Treasury yields eased on Tuesday, while stocks of mega-cap technology companies rose.

Goldman Sachs warns of increased oil market volatility if Trump is re-elected

Goldman Sachs has indicated that a second Trump administration could lead to heightened volatility in the oil market.

In a note to clients on Monday, the investment bank suggested that Trump may tighten sanctions on Iran, which could reduce supply from the country and exert upward pressure on prices in the short term. However, in the medium term, a Trump presidency could escalate trade tensions through tariffs, potentially lowering global oil demand and prices, Goldman noted.

“Conceptually, the impact of a potential second Trump term on oil prices is ambiguous,” said Yulia Zhestkova Grigsby, vice president of commodity research at Goldman Sachs.

Elon Musk: ‘Men are voting in record numbers’

Elon Musk, the owner of social media platform X and a prominent Republican donor, took to the platform on Tuesday to announce that “the cavalry has arrived” regarding male voter turnout.

“Men are voting in record numbers,” Musk stated. “They now realize everything is at stake.”

In response, Trump senior adviser Stephen Miller urged his followers, saying, “Call every guy you know. Tell them to vote and save civilization itself.”

Early voting data and polling indicate a growing gender gap in this election, with men favoring Trump while women show support for Harris.
