Wipro acquires Harman DTS for $375M, boosting AI and digital capabilities

Wipro Limited, a global leader in technology services, announced its plan to acquire Harman Connected Services, the digital transformation unit of Harman International, which is part of Samsung.

Valued at $375 million (approximately ₹3,270 crore), the acquisition underscores Wipro’s efforts to bolster its engineering and digital expertise.

The deal is expected to close by the end of the year, pending regulatory approvals.

Expanding engineering and digital transformation

Harman Connected Services, also called the Digital Transformation Solutions (DTS) unit, is a hub of expertise in embedded software, cloud infrastructure, AI, data analytics, and automation.

The unit employs over 5,600 people across the Americas, Europe, and Asia, supporting a variety of industries from healthcare and consumer electronics to industrial and high-tech communications.

Wipro isn’t just buying DTS, it’s opening a whole new chapter for itself. The deal gives the company a bigger playground for research and development and a stronger grip on hot tech areas like 5G, cloud-native apps, and AI.

Wipro’s CEO, Srini Pallia, said the real win is for the clients: faster projects, smarter solutions, and the chance to try out ideas that could really change how technology works around the world.

Carolin Reichert, Harman’s Chief Strategy Officer, said she’s looking forward to it, pointing out that the partnership lets Harman zero in on its automotive electronics and audio work, while still getting support from Wipro’s digital engineering team.

Once the deal is finalized, DTS will become part of Wipro’s Engineering Global Business Line, creating a real hub for digital transformation services.

The integration is expected to open new business opportunities and improve service delivery for clients across sectors like automotive, healthcare, and industrial automation.

Deutsche Bank Securities Inc. acted as Harman’s financial advisor for the transaction.

This move comes after a string of recent steps by Wipro to grow its technology and consulting capabilities, including acquisitions in insurance tech and automotive software. Adding Harman DTS fits neatly with Wipro’s bigger goal of becoming a global leader in innovation and digital transformation.
