Intuit Inc. is a financial technology and software company best known for products that help consumers, small businesses, and tax professionals manage money, accounting, payroll, and tax compliance. Its core brands include QuickBooks, TurboTax, Credit Karma, and Mailchimp, giving the company a broad presence across small-business operations, consumer finance, and digital marketing.
QuickBooks is Intuit’s flagship platform for small and mid-sized businesses. It supports bookkeeping, invoicing, payments, payroll, time tracking, and related financial workflows, with cloud-based services designed to become a central operating system for business owners and accountants. The acquisition of Mailchimp expanded Intuit’s reach into customer engagement and marketing automation, allowing it to offer tools that help businesses acquire and retain customers as well as manage finances.
On the consumer side, TurboTax is one of the leading self-directed tax preparation services in the United States, while Intuit also sells professional tax software used by accountants. Credit Karma adds a large consumer finance platform focused on credit scores, loan and card recommendations, and personal financial insights.
Founded in the 1980s, Intuit has built strong brand recognition and significant market share in US tax filing and small-business accounting software. The company increasingly uses artificial intelligence, data, and automation across its product suite to simplify financial decisions and reduce manual work. Its business model is largely subscription and service based, supported by seasonal tax revenue and a large installed base of businesses, consumers, and accounting professionals.
