  • Swipe's new partnership with Samsung brought its Visa crypto card support to Samsung Pay.
  • Swipe COO stated that the new move comes at the time when people have to resolve to digital payments.
  • At the same time, the company will benefit from Samsung's massive blockchain-educated user base.

Samsung Pay recently revealed that it extended its support, which now also includes Swipe’s VISA cards. In other words, Swipe VISA cardholders can now easily and conveniently transact with cryptocurrency cards.

Crypto VISA now works with Samsung Pay

The announcement revealing the move was only published yesterday, May 1st. The partnership is expected to be quite beneficial for crypto users who own the card. It will open up plenty of new opportunities, one of which will be the facilitation of crypto payments via Samsung Pay-enabled devices.

Recent reports also revealed that the platform became the first that supported two payment network giants. The two in question, of course, include Google Pay and Samsung Pay.

The effects of the integration did not take long to manifest themselves. The user base started growing rapidly. Especially since Swipe cardholders in the EU and the UK can send payments to 50 million locations around the world.

Swipe’s COO, John Kenneth, commented on the company’s partnership with Samsung. He reportedly said that it was possible thanks to the mutual issuing bank. The bank in question appears to be Contis Financial.

The integration started as soon as Visa approved the company, with respect to the digital card program. This came in addition to a program from several months before, that involved physical card.

But, as soon as the approval came, the integration started. Of course, Samsung’s user base is massive, and Kenneth admitted that the plan is to benefit from it. The user base already has its users educated about blockchain technology, which will have an impact on Swipe’s own user base.

COVID-19 pandemic will bring people to digital payments

Kenneth also pointed out that Google Pay saw a massive growth of its user base since the coronavirus pandemic had started. The current situation is, of course, very harmful for the people and the global economy alike. However, Kenneth said that it represents an opportunity for digital payment platforms to outperform traditional payment methods.

The locales will raise awareness of such methods’ existence, as well as efficiency and convenience. The opportunity comes due to the fact that there are still plenty of people who restrict themselves. They have only ever known payments via physical cash, and they do not care for new methods. But, with the pandemic still raging on, they no longer have a choice.
