  • Airbus wants to deliver a total of 800 planes in 2024.
  • It's currently the dominant narrow-body aircraft supplier.
  • $AIR is now up about 20% versus its year-to-date low.

Airbus SE is in focus today after industry sources said it delivered 142 planes in the first quarter – up 12% on a year-over-year basis.

Airbus had expected to deliver more than that

The aerospace giant had originally expected about 148 deliveries in Q1, the sourced added.

A 12% increase, however, brought its deliveries number back to the level last seen in early 2022. Note that Airbus itself has not yet confirmed that tally, though.

The manufacturer legally registered in Leiden, Netherlands is slated to post an official delivery update on April 9th.

In February, Airbus said its net income tanked 13% on a year over year basis in the fourth quarter. But the European firm still announced plans of proposing a special dividend of €1.0 per share at its annual meeting scheduled for next week.

Airbus wants to deliver 800 planes this year

Airbus is committed to deliver a total of 800 planes in 2024. It does not, however, reveal targets for each quarter.

On Wednesday, industry sources confirmed that shortage of seats are causing some delays in delivering wide-body jets. $AIR has notified customers of potential delays in A321 deliveries as well, they added.

Still, the multinational is currently the dominant supplier of narrow-body aircraft after the Federal Aviation Administration capped the number of 737s that rival Boeing can make in a month following the Alaska Airlines incident (find out more).

Wall Street currently has a consensus “overweight” rating on shares of Airbus SE.
