Former NBA player, Kris Humphries pledges support for Chainlink
- Kris Humphries openly declares support for Chainlink.
- He believes Chainlink is the best solution for adding data to smart contracts.
- LINK seems to be making a comeback after performing poorly in March.
Kris Humphries, an ex-NBA player has voiced his support for Chainlink. He revealed this through a tweet on April 7, noting that the entire world will soon depend on smart contracts. He went on to praise Chainlink, claiming that it is the only solution for bringing data into smart contracts in a secure and decentralized manner.
Humphries, who is renowned due to his short-lived marriage to Kim Kardashian is a former NBA center and power forward. He played in the league from 2014 to 2017. Declaring his support for Chainlink (LINK) comes as a surprise to many. This is because it is rare for a professional player to fully back an altcoin.
In his tweet, Humphries threw his entire weight behind Chainlink, saying,
“The world increasingly relies on data. Smart contracts will be no different. Chainlink is the only solution to bring data into smart contacts through a decentralized, secure manner. The future is now.”
Prior to this tweet, Humphries revealed that he is a Chainlink fan by simply tweeting Chainlink.
LINK begins staging a comeback
Copy link to sectionThis news comes after LINK performed dismally in the past month. The token’s price went as low as £0 on Binance on March 12 due to a slippage error. Despite almost hitting £4.06 in early March, the coin plunged to £1.37 shortly afterward. However, the coin seems to be making a comeback this month. At the time of writing, 8:17 AM UTC, LINK is up 5.03 percent and is changing hands at £2.32.
LINK is marketed as the best protocol for smart contracts on Ethereum and other blockchain platforms. Due to this, LINK’s use has the potential to increase significantly. This is because Ethereum’s most recent marketing point has been decentralized finance (DeFi), which relies heavily on smart contracts.
However, it is still unclear whether Chainlink will be an integral part of Ethereum’s DeFi ecosystem. Nonetheless, experts believe that if Ethereum decides to build a bridge with other platforms, LINK will not miss a role in the initiative.
Crypto adoption in the sports industry
Copy link to sectionHumphries’ support for LINK is not a strange phenomenon in the sports world. This is because professional players have been onboarding the crypto bandwagon for some time now. Before Humphries, Russell Okung, a defensive tackle for the LA chargers declared his support for bitcoin (BTC). Since this declaration, Okung has become one of the biggest BTC bulls in the NFL. In May last year, he tweeted that the league should pay his salary in BTC.
