  • Forbes’ 2020 list of billionaires only had four crypto entrepreneurs.
  • The richest man in the crypto space is Bitmain’s co-founder, Micree Zhan.
  • Amazon’s Jeff Bezos took the first position.

Forbes published its 34th edition list of global billionaires in 2020 on March 8. The list contains 2095 billionaires across the world. While some crypto proponents are known to have made a fortune during the late-2017 crypto boom, only four crypto leaders featured on the list.

According to the publication, the richest man in the crypto sphere is Micree Zhan, the co-founder of Bitmain, a mining chip manufacturing firm. Zhan appeared at number 690, and he reportedly has a net worth of £2,574,064,000. The second richest entrepreneur in the crypto space is Chris Larsen, the former CEO of Ripple Labs. Forbes ranked him at number 886 with a net worth of £2,091,427,000.

Bitmain’s co-founder Jihan Wu came in third at number 1,307 with a net worth of £1,447,911,000. The fourth richest man in the crypto-verse is Brian Armstrong, Coinbase’s CEO, who Forbes ranked at number 2,087. He reportedly has a net worth of £804,276,000. The combined net worth of these crypto bulls is approximately £6,997,201,200.

Changpeng Zhao, Binance’s CEO did not make it to this list. Prior to this, Forbes had named Zhao third in its list of “The Richest People In Cryptocurrency,” published in February 2018. The February 2018 list also included Joseph Lubin, Consensys’ founder. The Winklevoss twins, Tyler and Cameron are reportedly worth approximately £1,447,696,800 separately. However, they shied away from being included in the benchmark.

The newly released billionaire list ranked Jeff Bezos, the CEO of Amazon at the top spot. He reportedly has a net worth of £90,883,188,000. After him came Microsoft’s Bill Gates, who is worth £78,787,688,000. The owner of LVMH, a luxury magnate, Bernard Arnault took the third position, and has a net worth of £61,939,700,000.

This list included numerous billionaires from the traditional finance sector. These include Bitcoin opponent, Warren Buffet who took the fourth position with a net worth of £54,370,000,000. Zoom CEO, Eric Yuan was a newcomer on the list and he has £4,430,000,000 to his name.

While the crypto space has attracted investments from investors from traditional sectors, some billionaires loath the sector. For instance, Mark Cuban, the owner of NBA’s Dallas Mavericks with a net worth of £3,705,000,000 per Forbes, said that he would rather have bananas than BTC.
